Steak and Kidney Salad

Jade has been mentioning the steak and kidney pies I made in March:, not because she wanted the pies again but she really liked the taste of the steak and kidney fried, before I put it into the sauce.  So it just happened that one of the market vendors gave me this beautiful lettuce today.  It looks like a rose!  I decided to make a salad.

I sliced some purple onion, cucumber and some wedges of tomato and put them in the bowl with the lettuce, fried kidneys and steak.  A balsamic vinaigrette sounded good.

Balsamic Vinaigrette

2/3 cup olive oil

1/3 cup balsamic vinegar

1 tbsp Dijon mustard

1 shallot, chopped

2 garlic cloves chopped

Salt and pepper
