While we were at the machine getting money, we saw M. Parret and continued on to the cafe for a coffee. Tomorrow, the 14th, is Bastille Day, the National Day of France. We’re both cooking and eating together, so we discussed the menu. He invited us to continue the never ending food conversation at his house over a normal kir (Bourgogne Aligote and Creme de Cassis).
In the beginning, M. Parret offered some wonderful pork rillettes to accompany the kir and then, as he is wont to do, emptied the refrigerator and made a meal. Charcuterie, marinated tomatoes with eggs, raspberries, etc. I wouldn’t let him bring out the cheese and the melon But it was lovely! Conversation, laughter and grazing.
As an early evening nightcap, we enjoyed a glass of Clos de la Chainette, a wine from the old Abbey of St. Germain, now a prison. Bonne nuit!
